Chapter 257: Nothing Makes SenseEdrin’s head snapped up, his eyes searching for the source, his mind automatically trying to place the voice even though it seemed impossible that anyone could be calm enough to speak normally in this situation.

Then he saw Damian suspended in the air, silhouetted against lightning, his empty hand still glowing with residual crimson Aura.

Before Edrin could process what that meant, before his mind could analyze the implications– The world seemed to have ended.

Four points on the horizon erupted simultaneously.

Not with sound.

Not with fire or light or any normal explosion.

Just...

erasure.

Four massive domes appeared where the bulk of the creature horde had been – perfect hemispheres of absolute nothingness, reality itself disintegrating within their boundaries.

The edges were so clean they looked like someone had used cosmic scissors to cut holes in existence, the rain simply vanishing when it touched those boundaries, the fog ceasing to exist, the very air being deleted from reality.

WHOOOOOM!

The sound came half a second later – not an explosion but the opposite, the sound of vacuum being created, of space rushing in to fill the voids that had been carved into the dimension.

Then the domes collapsed!

And where thousands of creatures had been pressing inward with patient hunger...

There was nothing!

No corpses, no ashes...

Not even empty space in the normal sense!

Just absence, like those sections of reality had been scooped out and replaced with void, the edges of the deletions so smooth and perfect that they seemed wrong on a fundamental level.

All the creatures within those four massive zones had simply ceased to exist.

Vanished as if they’d never been real in the first place.

The noise of battle – the screaming and roaring and thunder of thousands of monsters – cut off so suddenly the silence felt physical.

Only a few hundred creatures remained, those that had been close enough to the defensive circle to avoid the spatial ruptures, their white eyes showing confusion for the first time, their mindless hunger disrupted by something their instincts couldn’t process.

Before anyone could react, before minds could even begin processing what they’d just witnessed– Something dark flashed through the rain.

An axe, dark and brutal, spinning end over end like a thrown weapon, its trajectory perfectly controlled despite the impossible physics involved.

SLASH!

The blade caught a creature mid-lunge at a student who’d frozen in shock, bisecting it so cleanly the two halves fell in opposite directions.

SLASH!

Another creature reaching for a girl who’d lost her weapon – decapitated, head spinning away into darkness.

SLASH!

SLASH!

SLASH!

The axe moved through the remaining horde like it was alive, like it could see and think and choose its targets with intelligence that shouldn’t be possible for a thrown weapon.

A boy about to be dragged down by three creatures – the axe removed all three heads in a single spinning arc.

A student cornered against a corpse pile – the axe carved through the attackers before they could complete their kill.

Two girls back-to-back, weapons lost, just waiting for death – the axe created a circle of bisected corpses around them.

Every remaining creature within the defensive circle died within ten seconds, butchered by a weapon that defied every law of power and combat Edrin had ever learned.

Then...

the axe reversed its trajectory.

Shot upward through the rain like a bird returning to its master, spinning gracefully despite its weight and size.

"...

" Every eye followed its path.

Every mouth hung open.

Every mind struggled to process what they were seeing.

The axe reached Damian’s descending form, and his hand caught it casually, like he’d just tossed it moments ago rather than used it to massacre hundreds of monsters with impossible precision.

He continued his descent, landing in the mud some distance away from Edrin with barely a sound, his crimson eyes showing none of the exhaustion everyone else displayed.

His clothes were soaked from rain but clean of blood.

His breathing was steady and controlled.

His entire demeanor suggested he’d just completed a mildly interesting task rather than saved them from certain death!

***** "...

" Silence spread across the battlefield like a living thing.

The kind of absolute quiet that followed miracles or disasters or events that broke human capacity to immediately respond.

Rain continued falling, hitting mud and corpses with soft pattering sounds.

Thunder still rumbled in the distance.

But nobody moved.

Nobody spoke.

They just stared.

The Imperial heirs were frozen in various states of collapse and exhaustion, their legendary skills having proven insufficient, their powers that would be celebrated in normal circumstances having barely kept the formation alive.

And then this commoner first-year had just...

erased the entire threat in four shots!

Cassius Eckhart’s grey eyes were wider than they’d ever been, his mind trying to process what he’d witnessed and finding no framework to contain it.

’Fuck!

What the actual fuck!

That wasn’t just bloody powerful!

That was reality manipulation at a level I’ve never seen outside of high ranking legends!

How the fuck is a C+ rank student performing spatial deletion?!

’Jonathan Thorne’s golden features showed something approaching religious awe, like he’d just witnessed divine intervention rather than human capability.

’The Divine Aegis is supposed to be absolute!

House Thorne’s greatest Imperial skill, unmatched in recorded history!

And this boy...

just made it look like a child’s toy compared to actual power!

’Ben Royce was just staring at where the creatures had been erased, his mind unable to reconcile the scale of destruction with the calm figure holding an axe.

’Motherfucker!

I killed hundreds with my Inferno Dominion!

Burned through my entire Aura reserve doing it!

And he just deleted thousands in four shots while barely seeming winded!

Fuck me sideways!

’Raymond Kingsley’s hands were shaking as he gripped his bow, Imperial pride warring with the undeniable evidence before his eyes.

’W-what the hell?!

My Tempest Sovereign is an SS rank weapon art passed down through generations of House Kingsley!

It’s one of the best range attack arts!

And compared to those Shots, it might as well be a basic skill learned in first-year classes!

’Alexander Vance had stopped maintaining his shields entirely, his vitality-enhanced endurance meaningless in the face of what he’d just witnessed.

’I held three sides alone!

Pushed my Imperial Gift to its absolute limits!

Nearly killed myself maintaining those defenses!

And he ended the entire battle in seconds!

Just who the fuck is this boy?!

’Sophia Verratoux was bleeding from her eyes now, the mental strain of processing this level of power combined with her earlier telekinetic overuse creating physical damage.

’How?!

How is someone younger than our age and our rank, capable of showing power that shouldn’t exist outside theoretical discussions of what high-rankers might achieve?

’David Evergreen had forgotten about healing entirely.

’That level of attack should require Aura reserves we won’t develop for years!

The control necessary for this shouldn’t be learnable in a single fucking year!

Nothing about this makes sense!
