Immortal in The Apocalypse

Leaving those words behind, the administrative staff member returned to the public office. After she left, Wei Bai and the others walked into the East District. Looking at the beautifully decorated houses and the high-ranked zombies that were busy planting flowers and sunbathing, Lei Zhicheng’s eyes flickered.

After taking a look at Lei Zhicheng’s expression, Wei Bai smiled and asked, "Are you surprised?"

Lei Zhicheng turned to look at him and replied: "This is the first time I see zombies living and talking like humans."

Wei Bai looked at the zombies living peacefully in the East District, sighed, and said with a hint of pity in his voice: "They are all human beings. They are just more unfortunate than us and have experienced some inhuman things in the past."

Listening to Wei Bai’s words, Lei Zhicheng lowered his eyes to hide his emotions. After walking for another thirty minutes, they finally arrived at Lei Haozhan’s house. Standing in front of the small house, Lei Zhicheng looked at the beautifully decorated front yard in a daze. The front yard looks exactly like the front yard of the Lei family’s ancestral home.

Wei Bai rang the bell hanging by the low gate and waited. Soon, the door opened and Lei Zhicheng’s eyes constricted when he saw a young man who looked similar to himself walking out of the house.

Opening the low wooden gate, Lei Haozhan smiled at them and said, "Captain Xiu has informed me of your visit. Please come in."

After saying that, he stepped aside to let them in, but Lei Zhicheng could only stand there staring at him motionlessly. Feeling Lei Zhicheng’s gaze, Lei Haozhan turned around and froze in place the moment he saw Lei Zhicheng.

After blinking a few times, Lei Haozhan stared at the man standing in front of him, hesitated for a moment, and then asked carefully: "Cheng Cheng?"

Hearing the young man in front of him called his nickname, Lei Zhicheng stepped forward and called him in a trembling voice: "Elder Brother."

Lei Haozhan smiled at him and said, "Yes, it’s me. It seems you are no longer picky about food because you are growing up healthily."

Looking at his elder brother who was supposed to be two years older than himself but looked younger than himself instead, Lei Zhicheng clenched his hands, gritted his teeth, and thought: ’Grandfather, is it really you who did all of that?’

Sensing his murderous intent, Lei Haozhan walked up to him. He held Lei Zhicheng’s hand like how he held his younger brother’s hand when they were young, and said, "Let’s go in first."

Seeing that the two brothers had a lot to say, Wei Bai said, "Captain Lei, we will wait outside."

Lei Zhicheng nodded to Wei Bai and followed Lei Haozhan in. When the door closed, a team member looked at Wei Bai and asked, "Brother Wei, are you sure it is alright to let Captain Lei be alone with the Zombie Emperor?"

Wei Bai clicked his tongue and said, "You have to be tactful. The two of them are obviously siblings. Do you think Young Master Lei will kill his younger brother? Moreover, our mission is to protect him from other zombies, not from Young Master Lei. Do you think we can win if we fight against the Zombie Emperor?"

His team members looked at each other, then looked at the closed door, and one of them muttered: "But we don’t know if the Zombie Emperor still regards Captain Lei as his younger brother after he turned into a zombie or not."

At the same time, inside the house, Lei Haozhan pushed Lei Zhicheng to the ground, grabbed his neck and looked at him coldly. If Wei Bai and the others saw what happened right now, they would be frightened to death because the murderous intent exuded by Lei Haozhan was so obvious.
